My story

Recently widowed and living in Nairobi’s crowded settlements, Fridah struggled daily to feed her grandchildren. With seeds, tools and training from Beacon of Hope, she now grows vegetables in a small urban plot, providing food, income and hope.

As Chichester Cathedral families take on '70k in May' together, we will be praying for families across the world who have to travel long distances each day to fulfil basic needs. The money we raise will help Christian Aid's international partners work with families like Fridah's to build a more secure future for their children. Please support our challenge!

How your money helps

You can support families facing the daily stress of food insecurity in Nairobi.

In the crowded and noisy settlements of Nairobi, parents like Fridah wake up knowing they must earn money – otherwise their children won’t eat that evening. But with tools, seeds and training from our partner, Beacon of Hope, families can grow nutritious vegetables in small city spaces and grow hope for the future.
