My story

Those who know me understand that I am no athlete, but this May I’m taking on the 70k in May challenge to support families facing hunger in Kenya.  See the difference that your donation can make by checking out the Fridah's story, who is growing food in her urban farm, ensuring her children don’t go without.

Christian Aid works to support those in need, empowering and building resilience in communities. It supports people in times of crisis whether they have been affected by natural or human made disasters, the impact of climate change or the crippling debts countries have to pay to private lenders.

I think about the distances people affected by such events have to walk every day just to find a safe place to stay, to collect essentials such as fresh water, food or clothing, to access education and work. The support needed to rebuild their lives.

70K in May is the least I can do -  please support my challenge this Christian Aid Week and make a difference.

How your money helps

You can support families facing the daily stress of food insecurity in Nairobi.

In the crowded and noisy settlements of Nairobi, parents like Fridah wake up knowing they must earn money – otherwise their children won’t eat that evening. But with tools, seeds and training from our partner, Beacon of Hope, families can grow nutritious vegetables in small city spaces and grow hope for the future.

Every pound you raise could help:

  • provide seeds and tools so people can grow food in small spaces.
  • fund training so people can plan ahead and protect their livelihoods.
  • support community-led projects that strengthen food security and incomes.
