This year, the Christian Aid Week theme is based in Kenya and, in particular, with the urban poverty in Nairobi. To quote Fridah Moraa, a mother and grandmother who became the sole provider for her family when her husband died last year: "Protecting the children from hunger and malnutrition is a constant battle, sometimes I don;t know how I'll feed my family, I pray to God that I will succeed." But thanks to a ndw programme of support, she is being trained to cultivate her own vegetables in small, unused city spaces. "Urban farming has changed my life" she says. So this year, Christian Aid is raising money to support families like Fridah's to protect themselves from hunger and nurture hope.

How your money helps
You can support families facing the daily stress of food insecurity in Nairobi.
In the crowded and noisy settlements of Nairobi, parents like Fridah wake up knowing they must earn money – otherwise their children won’t eat that evening. But with tools, seeds and training from our partner, Beacon of Hope, families can grow nutritious vegetables in small city spaces and grow hope for the future.
Every pound you raise could help:
- provide seeds and tools so people can grow food in small spaces.
- fund training so people can plan ahead and protect their livelihoods.
- support community-led projects that strengthen food security and incomes.
