My story

This Christian Aid Week, I’m supporting families facing hunger in Nairobi.

Parents like Fridah are growing food in small city spaces so their children can eat. With tools, seeds and training, families can plan for the future. Christian Aid has been supporting people out of poverty since the middle of the last century and is focussed on helping people to help themselves so that communities can become more sustainable and less dependent on hand-outs. Christian Aid always works with local community groups and organisations so that solutions to poverty are rooted in local understanding and needs.

I have been supporting Christian Aid for about 50 years through events such as sponsored walks, concerts and, more recently, door to door collecting. I realise that many people support a range of charities and none of us can support everything! I won't be in the least offended if you don't feel able to support Christian Aid this week, but if you can, 'every little helps!'

Rhowch yr hyn y gallwch chi yn ystod Wythnos Cymorth Cristnogol.

Diolch yn fawr! Thanks very much!

How your money helps

You can support families facing the daily stress of food insecurity in Nairobi.

In the crowded and noisy settlements of Nairobi, parents like Fridah wake up knowing they must earn money – otherwise their children won’t eat that evening. But with tools, seeds and training from our partner, Beacon of Hope, families can grow nutritious vegetables in small city spaces and grow hope for the future.

Every pound you raise could help:

  • provide seeds and tools so people can grow food in small spaces.
  • fund training so people can plan ahead and protect their livelihoods.
  • support community-led projects that strengthen food security and incomes.
