My story

St John's-Renfield has always been a great supporter of Christian Aid. This Christian Aid Week focuses on the theme of "Faithful Action". The campaign highlights the fight against urban poverty, specifically supporting mothers and families in Nairobi, Kenya, who are facing food insecurity. Parents like Fridah are growing food in small city spaces so they and their children can eat. With tools, seeds and training, families can plan for the future.

How your money helps

You can support families facing the daily stress of food insecurity in Nairobi.

In the crowded and noisy settlements of Nairobi, parents like Fridah wake up knowing they must earn money – otherwise their children won’t eat that evening. But with tools, seeds and training from our partner, Beacon of Hope, families can grow nutritious vegetables in small city spaces and grow hope for the future.

  • provide seeds and tools so people can grow food in small spaces.
  • fund training so people can plan ahead and protect their livelihoods.
  • support community-led projects that strengthen food security and incomes.
