My story

This Christian Aid Week, We are  supporting families facing hunger in Nairobi and around the world.

Parents like Fridah are growing food in small city spaces so their children can eat. With tools, seeds and training, families can plan for the future. 
 Growing food in Urban areas can be a life saver for families.

Nairobi slums, including Kibera (Africa's largest), Mukuru, and Mathare, are vast informal shanty settlements, housing over 60% of the city's population on limited land, often without official recognition.

How your money helps

You can support families facing the daily stress of food insecurity in Nairobi.

In the crowded and noisy settlements of Nairobi, parents like Fridah wake up knowing they must earn money – otherwise their children won’t eat that evening. But with tools, seeds and training from our partner, Beacon of Hope, families can grow nutritious vegetables in small city spaces and grow hope for the future.

  • provide seeds and tools so people can grow food in small spaces.
  • fund training so people can plan ahead and protect their livelihoods.
