My story

Broomhill Hyndland Parish Church is hosting our annual plant sale in support of Christian Aid, a charity that’s very close to our hearts because of its work alongside communities facing poverty and injustice around the world.

This event has become a much-loved tradition for us—we’ve been running it for nearly 20 years, and it’s grown bigger and better each year. What started as a small sale has become a real community event, bringing people together over a shared love of gardening, good conversation, and supporting a meaningful cause.

As well as raising vital funds, the plant sale is a chance to connect with neighbours, welcome new faces, and create a warm, friendly space where everyone feels included. It’s a simple idea, but it’s one that has a lasting impact—both locally and globally—and we’re proud to keep it going year after year.

How your money helps

You can support families facing the daily stress of food insecurity in Nairobi.

In the crowded and noisy settlements of Nairobi, parents like Fridah wake up knowing they must earn money – otherwise their children won’t eat that evening. But with tools, seeds and training from our partner, Beacon of Hope, families can grow nutritious vegetables in small city spaces and grow hope for the future.

Every pound you raise could help:

  • provide seeds and tools so people can grow food in small spaces.
  • fund training so people can plan ahead and protect their livelihoods.
  • support community-led projects that strengthen food security and incomes.
