My story

This Christian Aid Week, we stand alongside families fighting hunger and poverty in Nairobi, Kenya, where many mothers face the daily struggle of earning enough to feed their children.

Your gifts this week will help women like Fridah, who—through Christian Aid’s partner Beacon of Hope—has received seeds, tools and training to grow fresh vegetables in small city spaces. This simple support enables her to feed her grandchildren and earn an income, giving her hope and dignity for the future.

By donating, praying, or taking action, you join a movement of churches and communities working together for justice. Christian Aid Week brings thousands across Britain and Ireland together to give, fundraise and speak up for a fairer world.

Your generosity can help families plan for tomorrow with confidence.
Thank you for supporting Christian Aid Week here in Kirkwall.

How your money helps

You can support families facing the daily stress of food insecurity in Nairobi.

In the crowded and noisy settlements of Nairobi, parents like Fridah wake up knowing they must earn money – otherwise their children won’t eat that evening. But with tools, seeds and training from our partner, Beacon of Hope, families can grow nutritious vegetables in small city spaces and grow hope for the future.

Every pound you raise could help:

  • provide seeds and tools so people can grow food in small spaces.
  • fund training so people can plan ahead and protect their livelihoods.
  • support community-led projects that strengthen food security and incomes.
