Welcome to the Dean Parish on-line giving page for Christian Aid Week, during which thousands of churches, irrespective of traditions, stand together to speak out for change.

Our planet is suffering from the devastating effects caused by natural disasters and by mankind’s wars. Unfortunately, such occasions tend to adversely affect the innocents in poorer countries disproportionally, compared to those of us in the developed world. Christian Aid’s list of current emergency appeals reflects this, being currently focused on:  

the Middle East humanitarian appeal, centred on Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon;

the Sudan crisis appeal, the world’s largest displacement emergency;

the Afghanistan earthquake appeal, due to devastation in eastern and rural Afghanistan;

the Ukrainian Humanitarian appeal, four years on, reaching out to the border areas of friendly adjoining countries, as well as to Ukraine itself, of course.

Christian Aid exists to create a world where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty, to which end it has a general focus on helping poorer communities cope with the adverse effects of the climate crisis, with its unpredictable and extreme weather patterns.

This year’s Christian Aid Week appeal is again focused on helping communities, in a sustainable manner, to build up their resilience capacities to climate change and other shocks. A video of an example of what this means in practice can be watched by searching for Christian Aid Week 2026 on YouTube. It is only a 4 minute watch and illustrates mothers in Nairobi in Kenya, facing the devastating reality of urban poverty and the daily struggle to feed their children, who received tools, seeds and training to grow fresh vegetables in a small city space, food which can be cooked for their families or sold to earn income.
