Kenya is in a debt crisis that’s robbing vital funding from health, education and social services. Families like Fridah’s and Belinda’s are paying the price.

This Christian Aid Week, invite your church and community to share prayers, hopes and messages for people living in poverty in Kenya.

We’ll use what you send to craft our giant Restoration Pot:

A big, beautiful three-dimensional piece of art made from the prayers, hope and messages of Christian Aid supporters. This impressive piece of craftivism will be presented to UK decision makers as a call for debt justice.

Ideas to prompts for your prayer or message:

  • A prayer for justice and restoration
  • A message of hope for families under pressure
  • A promise to stand with our global neighbours

Why Kenya’s debt matters

Kenya’s debt crisis is a key contributor to the poverty that dominates the lives of families like Fridah’s and Belinda’s.

Almost half of Kenya’s debt is owed to private lenders charging sky-high interest rates. Many of these loans are governed by UK law – which means the UK Government is uniquely placed to introduce new debt justice laws to help tackle debt and the companies who profit from keeping families in poverty.

Key reality: Debt repayments are draining Kenya’s resources, and budgets for essential services – including support for children – have been drastically cut.

From solidarity to action

This Christian Aid week share a message to the UK Government for debt justice. Stand with Kenya. Demand debt justice. Sign the petition.
